Welcome to the Red Dirt Ultra!  After the tremendous success of our first year, we are excited to welcome you all back to this beautiful trail for 2018 and beyond.  RDU is run on the Sandstone Trail.  It is a 31 mile loop through the Kisatchie National Forest, running through piney woods, over ridges with beautiful views, and across clear cold creeks fed by natural springs.  Here is a quick view of one of my favorite spots, Spa 21.

This trail shows that Louisiana is not flat, but the climbs are rewarded with great views and the downhills are gradual and clean and great fun to run!   Depending on the weather, most of the trail is hard packed sand, with a few rocky sections as well as a few sections with loose sand just to keep it interesting.

Every aid station along the way is manned by experienced ultra runners who know how to take care of all of your needs, but aren't afraid to kick you out of the station if you get too comfortable.

Check out the tabs at the top of the page for a picture tour of the trail, as well as the Race Document with all of the pertinent information and, of course the registration link.  :-)

We can't wait to see all of you next February! -- Edie
